The CalJOBS online system helps job seekers and employers navigate the state’s workforce services, including job searches, assistance with creating resumes, information about labor market trends and more.

America’s Job Center of California, based in San Luis Obispo, provides free help for local job seekers. Services include virtual workshops, assistance with creating resumes tailored to the specific employers, mock interviews and one-on-one job coaching if they qualify for federal Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act services. The Workforce Development Board website has information and resources for both employer and employees seeking assistance. The Workforce Development Board Facebook page posts job vacancies, information and resources regularly.

The EDD has several benefit programs to help you if you’re out of work or had your hours or wages reduced.
You may be eligible for benefit payments through the following programs:
- Unemployment Insurance – For workers who have lost their job or had their hours reduced.
- State Disability Insurance – For workers who need time off work due to illness, injury, pregnancy, childbirth, caregiving, or bonding.
In addition, federal assistance expanded unemployment benefits for those impacted by COVID-19.
- Pandemic Unemployment Assistance – For self-employed workers, independent contractors, business owners, and others who don’t usually qualify for regular Unemployment Insurance.
- Pandemic Emergency Unemployment Compensation – Benefit extension for workers who have used all their regular Unemployment Insurance benefits.
- Pandemic Additional Compensation – An additional stimulus payment added to each week of unemployment benefits.
Also, there is additional assistance for workers and businesses, including funding for services such as housing, child care, and transportation costs.
