SLO County Airport Prepares Passengers for Holiday Weekend

Top 5 Travel Tips for Passengers

The SLO County Airport (SBP) is gearing up for what is expected to be a bustling Labor Day weekend as travelers take to the skies for the holiday and the unofficial end of summer. With the anticipation of increased passenger traffic, the Airport is offering its top five travel reminders to help ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience:

  1. Arrive Early: With the busy holiday weekend, SBP recommends arriving 2 hours before your scheduled departure. Early arrival ensures you have ample time for parking, check-in, and security screening.

  1. Pack Smart: Review TSA guidelines on prohibited items before packing your bags. Remember, liquids must be in containers of 3.4 ounces or less and placed in a clear, quart-sized bag.

  1. Check Your Flight Status: Flight schedules can change. Always double-check your flight status before leaving for the airport by visiting the airline's website or using their mobile app.

  1. Have Your ID Ready: All travelers 18 years and older must present a valid government-issued ID at the security checkpoint. Ensure your ID is easily accessible.

  1. Plan for Parking: Airport parking lots may fill up quickly during the holiday weekend. Consider carpooling, ridesharing, or using public transportation to avoid parking delays.

In addition to preparing for a busy travel weekend, the SLO County Airport is proud to announce a significant milestone. For July 2024, the airport recorded an all-time high of 69,663 passengers, surpassing previous records. This achievement reflects the ongoing growth and demand for air travel in the region.

"We are thrilled to see such strong passenger numbers, and we are committed to providing a safe, efficient, and welcoming experience for all who travel through SBP," said Courtney Johnson, Director of Airports.

The Airport encourages all travelers to plan ahead, stay informed, and enjoy their journey as they take to the skies this Labor Day weekend.
